The WIC program is a special supplemental food and nutritional program for women, infants, and children, available to all eligible participants without regard to race, color, natural origin, age, sex or handicap.
To participate in the WIC program a person MUST meet the following conditions:
- Live within a WIC service area
- Meet income guidelines
- Have nutritional needs
Those eligible for WIC include:
- Pregnant women
- Breastfeeding mothers (up to one year after delivery)
- Postpartum non-breastfeeding mothers (up to six months after delivery)
- Infants
- Children under five years of age
All persons who receive Medicaid, Food Stamps, and TANF are income-eligible for WIC.
WIC participants receive checks, which can be redeemed for specified nutritious foods at designated grocery stores. WIC participants also receive nutrition education, nutrition counseling, and referral to other health and social services.

How do you transfer to WIC from another state?
- This service is provided on a walk-in basis. The transfer process will take about 30 minutes.
- Bring your transfer information from another state (WIC card or VOC document)
- Identification proof for parent and child (child's identification, birth certificate, passport, or shot record)
- Proof of current address (lease, rent receipt, or recent mail)
